Capture Juneau Photo Tour

Capture the place. Share your stories. Shutterbugs from pros to point and shooters are in for a treat on this excursion. Experience Juneau`s hidden attractions and scenic places on this exclusive tour designed to engage photo enthusiasts of all levels. Your naturalist photography guide knows the area well, from the area's iconic mining ruins and sheltered rainforest canopies to permitted trails at the Mendenhall Glacier and Steep Creek. He or she will share with you the lore and lure of photographing in this local area, as well as offer tips and techniques to enhance your images and photography skills.

Begin your trip with a comfortable ride in a multi-media equipped vehicle as your photo guide shares digital images, insightful photography techniques & a bit about the area`s cultural and natural history. Experience an illustrative slide show as your guide shares historical images from the Treadwell Mining Complex of the early 1900s. Arrive at the complex, now a ghost town, to take pictures from the same vantage points as those historic photographers. Best yet, you keep the historical images to compare with images of your own. What a way to make history come to life!

Next a short drive brings you to the Mendenhall Glacier, where a gentle walk leads to beaver dams, salmon streams and breathtaking glacier panoramas. Juneau`s wilderness habitat provides a wealth of subjects. Here you will shoot and in some cases handle glacial ice and floating icebergs. You may also see perched eagles, spawning salmon or even black bears. Expect to leave Juneau with an appreciation of the area and good photos that support what you have experienced and learned.
